Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that removes the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face. It is done using a sterile surgical blade that is gently scraped across the skin at a 45-degree angle. Dermaplaning exfoliates the skin and is less invasive than dermabrasion. If you have delicate skin or a darker skin tone, you may be more at risk of scarring from dermabrasion and dermaplaning may be a better option. Benefits - Brighter, more youthful skin tone. Removal of small hairs or peach fuzz. Reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Smoother skin. Ease hyperpigmentation and Evening out skin tone. Removing bacteria and clearing pores to limit breakouts. Allows for better absorption of products. aids the effectiveness of other treatments like chemical peels and microneedling. Side effects - Most people have little to no irritation or reaction but immediately after short term effects may include Red and swollen skin from the scraping. Some Soreness. A burning or tingling sensation for about 48 hours after the procedure. It’s also a myth that your hair will grow back thicker or darker after dermaplaning. While hair that grows back may feel courser at first, it will get softer over time. Safety - Dermaplaning isn’t recommended if you have inflammatory skin conditions such as: Acne, Rosacea, Psoriasis, Eczema, Sunburn. If you’re taking a prescription medication used to treat severe acne, you should wait 6 months after you stop taking it to try dermaplaning. After care - Usual skin after care advice applies. Keep hydrated, sleep on a clean pillow case, Avoid touching your face and Be gentle with your skin for the next few days. Avoid harsh cleaners, toners or exfoliants. Apply soothing moisturizer and SPF daily. Avoid direct sunlight. Avoid putting makeup on for the first day or couple of days if possible.

Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment which uses specific wavelengths of light to treat the skin on a cellular level, penetrating through your epidermal and dermal layers of your skin to accomplish various outcomes. The light penetrates about 8-10 millimeters into the skin. Depending on which area of the body the red light is used, this can easily affect all skin layers, reaching into blood vessels, lymph pathways, nerves, and hair follicles. Benefits - It helps rejuvenate facial skin and smooths skin tone. Red light builds collagen in the skin to reduce wrinkles naturally by triggering the body to produce more of its own. Beneficial for skin to reduce eczema, rosacea, and acne. It helps to repair sun damage. It activates the lymphatic system and potentially improves detoxification through increased circulation. Decreases inflammation in the skin. Helps fade scars and stretch marks. Improves hair growth. Stimulates slow healing wound. Can prevent recurring cold sores, or herpes simplex. Like with any treatment this is most effective when used consistently. Side effects - no side effects. Safety - For safety eye goggles are used to protect the eyes. Studies indicate that red light therapy is safe during pregnancy. I still recommend checking with a doctor or midwife to ensure that it is safe for you. After care - usual after skin advice applies.

Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that treats skin concerns by stimulating collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment creates micro-punctures in the skin using miniature, sterilized needles. Mostly used on the face but can be used on other areas of the body to treat multiple skin concerns and even be used for hair loss to encourage new growth. Benefits - proven to help to smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, dark spots, large pores and wrinkles. As your skin starts to heal you will start to see results in about 2 weeks, but Ideal results are achieved after multiple sessions, so a long-term maintenance plan is advised. Side effects - very little downtime but you will see minor redness and irritation for up to a few days after the procedure. Some may experience a small amount of bleeding during treatment, but this is minimal. Skin will also be sensitive to products, to touch and to sunlight. Safety - treatment not available to people who use certain acne medications, those with active acne, or those with moderate to severe psoriasis or eczema. Also to note this is not suitable immediately after a filler or botox appointment. Please allow at least 2 weeks after before having this treatment to allow the botox / filler to settle. After care - Usual facial aftercare advised, keep hydrated, sleep on a clean pillow case etc. Avoid touching your face immediately after to avoid any bacteria entering into your skin and causing an infection. Avoid direct sunlight for at least a week after and use SPF daily. Avoid any exercise that will cause you to sweat and this includes the use of saunas and steam rooms for 2-3 days after. Avoid wearing makeup for a few days is advised. Avoid using any active serums like Retinol, Vit C etc for around 2 weeks.
